Soft silk sarees are made from silk yarns that are chemically treated before being used. The silk yarns initially contain a sticky substance that is the residue from silkworms. During chemical treatment, this sticky substance or gum is removed, which makes the yarn clean and smooth and easier to handle for weaving. On the other hand, raw silk as we know it is made from untreated silk yarns. The sticky residue makes it difficult to weave the fabric but it results in a gorgeous overall sheen in the end.
